The Renaissance is Breathtaking!

What a wonderful surprise! It has been years since I visited Greenville, South Carolina. On an invite fromTaryn Scher of TK Public Relations – Event Planning and the Greenville Convention and Visitor's Brueau, they told me to be ready for an amazing adventure. They were right and I was totally surprised!
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in upstate South Carolina, Greenville has definitely become a travel destination. With over 8500 rooms, easy air access to the world from their airport, a marvelous convention facility, the BI-LO sports and entertainment complex and the breathtaking Peace Center for the Performing Arts, Greenville is a place to do business and visit. Leading corporations like Michelin, BMW, GE, 3M, Honeywell, Lockheed, Bosch and many others call this home. This family oriented community is a reasonable place to live, work, play and it is very affordable. Greenville was named “Top 20 Best Bang for Your Buck Cities in America” by Forbes Magazine.
You can’t imagine the beauty of this all American City. Main Street in downtown Greenville is considered one of the most beautiful in the Southeast. There are wonderful trees that line the entire street, close to 100 excellent restaurants, selective shopping and very friendly people! The South and a great Southern City are back in perfect form.
There are excellent accommodations, a professional theatre offering the latest from the Broadway stage, and just about everything else you can imagine for a redeveloped great community. The bridge crossing the Reedy River is a must on your City tour along with other historical places. It is really beautiful! Congratulations!
The highlights of Main Street offer some of the most exciting restaurants you will find outside of New York. Believe me, you will find everything your taste buds desire. My favorite was the awesome experience and the hospitality of theTable 301 group and their premiere restaurant SOBY’S at 207 Main Street.
SOBY’s opened in 1997 and is housed in the warm environment of a renovated, century-old building. It is a magnificent structure beautifully appointed and decorated beyond the imagination. It is large enough to accommodate most events from private dining, birthdays, anniversaries, meetings, celebrations and more. Their wine list is a consistent winner of Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast awards.
The food is “New South Cuisine” and that means absolutely delicious with all of your favorite flavors and so many exciting new ones. From crab cakes, shrimp and grits to the best in pork, lamb, and chicken to salads and specialty items, there is nothing better than this! Frankly there is no need to leave the area to find the best in seafood, as it is on Main Street in Greenville at Soby’s!
The “New South Cuisine” is the name of their very classy cookbook with some of the best in their recipes. Take this home and have your friends over for a little “champs” (the California inspired word for Champagne) and feed them your new secret find from SOBY’S. Why they will think you have been to one of the leading culinary institutions studying for years!
Thanks to Carl Sobocinski and David Williams, Greenville has the very best! They have created a tradition and topped it with class! Congratulations! These guys have it and they know how to make it work.
Greenville has impressed and brought back many memories of my days at Furman when I was a student on the final year of the old campus in downtown (1957-59) and the first year on the new campus. I planted most of those trees giving lots of shade to the campus today!
When you think of your vacation this year, take time out to make it Greenville, South Carolina. There are so many opportunities to entertain the entire family and Dad will never forget his driving experience at BMW. “Make Dad happy and the rest is history.” I can see him now, a race driver on the tracks burning rubber. Go GREENVILLE!
