Located in the sweeping mountains of South Carolina just outside Landrum, there is a beautiful place of perfection created by Mary and Roger Wolters, the owners. Known as THE RED HORSE INN, it is an escape of pastoral vistas and an endless sky.
First of all you would never expect to find this resort located just down the road, over a hill or two and up a winding little road. When you round the corner near the top at the registration office, you will have to stop and take a deep breath, as that first view is so overwhelming as it explodes with a vision that only God can created.There are six charming cottages and six of the most beautifully appointed rooms in the Inn. Be it for a romantic retreat, wedding, anniversary, birthday or just a get-a-way for the weekend, the Red Horse Inn is your place.
The cottages are complete with kitchen, fireplace, deck or patio, TV, AC, phone and internet service. Three even have whirlpools and an upstairs lofted area and three have outdoor hot tubs. Each one is very private, so imagine yourself and that someone special reconnecting and getting away from the rest of the world problems.
The Inn accommodations are equally as exciting as the cottages. The beds are plush, the chairs are comfortable and the bathrooms are large and it is spotless! There is a breakfast basket provided in all rooms and cottages consisting of jumbo muffins, fresh fruit, juice, tea or coffee and cereals of all kinds. There is no need to jump out of bed to grab a breakfast like you would fine in some motel. Instead you can stay in the comfort of your own room, sleep longer and then enjoy your breakfast at your leisure.
OMG people, this is a special place to visit! With all my travels, I have not been in an Inn as comfortable and private as the Red Horse
As Mary and Roger would say, “The Inn will be exactly what you had hoped for!” WRONG! “It is more than you would have ever dreamed for!”
While there take time to sit on the porch while viewing the mountains and enjoy a nice glass of wine with a little cheese. This is almost an out-of-body experience. When I say believe me, you know I really mean it!
THE RED HORSE INN is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on acreage with miles of hiking trails near 50 waterfalls, 3 covered bridges, 5 wineries ( One being my favorite, the Overmountain Vineyards and Winery.), golf courses, fishing, antiquing and fine dining. You are also an hour away from Greenville / Spartanburg, South Carolina and Hendersonville and Asheville, North Carolina.
Remember, the Red Horse Inn is not a place “for what you want”, it is “for what you NEED!” On my recommendations of excellent accommodations, I give this property a 10!
